Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit our website. They help us provide you with a better experience by remembering your preferences and understanding how you use our site.

We measure how our website is used with a cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics system that places nothing on your device and therefore requires no consent (see "Website Analytics" below). All other non-essential technologies — used for advertising and marketing — are blocked by our consent banner until you explicitly opt in. These cookies are necessary for our website and application to function and cannot be disabled:

Website Analytics (Cookieless — No Consent Required)

We measure how our website (complir.io) is used with a first-party, privacy-friendly analytics system that sets no cookies and stores no information on your device. It collects only aggregate usage data:

  • Pages viewed and the referring website
  • Approximate country, derived from your IP address (the IP address itself is not stored)
  • Device and browser type

We do not use a persistent identifier. Visitors are counted using a temporary key generated on our own servers from a value that rotates every 24 hours, so activity cannot be linked to you across days, and we do not store your IP address or full browser user-agent. Because this measurement places nothing on your device and does not track you across websites or over time, it does not require consent under EU ePrivacy rules. The data is processed on our own infrastructure (using Supabase as our database processor) and is not shared with third parties for their own purposes.

Marketing Cookies (Requires Consent)

When you accept marketing cookies via our banner, we load the following on our website (complir.io):

  • Google Ads and Google Analytics 4 (loaded via the Google tag): measure advertising and campaign performance and website conversions
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag: measures LinkedIn campaign performance and supports retargeting

These are only active after you opt in and can be declined or withdrawn at any time.

Application Analytics (app.complir.io — Requires Consent)

  • PostHog: Product analytics that helps us understand how users interact with our compliance platform, identify bugs, and improve features. This includes session recordings and event tracking.

How PostHog Works

PostHog collects:

  • Feature usage and interaction data
  • Session recordings (anonymized where possible)
  • Technical information (browser type, device, performance metrics)
  • User behavior patterns to improve product experience

You can opt out of PostHog tracking by contacting us or through your browser's Do Not Track settings.

How to Manage Your Cookie Preferences

You can manage your cookie consent at any time:

  • Reload the page: Clear your cookies through your browser settings, then reload our website to see the consent banner again
  • Browser settings: Configure your browser to block or delete cookies at any time
  • Contact us: Email our Data Protection Officer at compliance@complir.io to request withdrawal of consent

Withdrawing Consent

You can withdraw consent at any time:

  • Clear cookies in your browser: This will reset your consent preferences, and the banner will reappear on your next visit
  • Contact us directly: We will process withdrawal requests within 72 hours and send you confirmation

Withdrawing consent does not affect your ability to use our website.

Data Retention

  • Cookie consent records are maintained with timestamps and the specific purposes you consented to
  • Cookieless website analytics data is retained only for as long as needed for traffic analysis and is then deleted or aggregated
  • If you withdraw consent, we cease all related processing and update our systems accordingly
  • Audit trails are kept to demonstrate GDPR compliance

Third-Party Cookies

We do not allow third-party cookies beyond Google Ads and Google Analytics 4 (loaded via the Google tag) and the LinkedIn Insight Tag on our website, and PostHog in our application. These are only loaded after you consent to marketing cookies (or, for the application, to product analytics) and are configured to comply with GDPR requirements.
